Puppy Love

This past weekend, my brother and his wife drove all the way down from Pennsylvania (which ended up taking them 12 hours w/holiday traffic) to surprise me for a visit!!  Eric had been saying that he had some surprise for me,  and even though I bugged him for clues, he stood strong, and didn’t hint.  He said, “I feel you could use a surprise in your life, I know how much you love them”.  He is right.  I LOVE being surprised.  Friday night we came home after catching up with some friends for dinner, and I went straight to the computer to check my facebook, etc.  Meanwhile, Eric and my brother were texting, and all of a sudden, Eric comes in and grabs my hand and says, “come with me, i have to show you your surprise”.  So  he led me to the front door, and when he opened it, there stood my brother and sister-in-law!  I just stared for a few moments, in complete shock, looking at him, then at her… then I hugged my brother and started to cry!  I hugged Becca, and that’s when she said, “We have another surprise for you too… she’s in the car!”

It was then that I knew that their new little puppy, Cloey June, had come along for the road trip to see her “auntie lisa”!!!!! I practically ran down our apartment stairwell to their car, and instantly fell in love.  How could you not?

She definitely stole the show the whole weekend :)  She is the cutest, friendliest, funniest little thing! I just adore her…I even let her lick my face with her little puppy breath kisses, and didn’t mind… i have NEVER let another dog lick my face before :)  Here are some more pictures of us enjoying her company:

She was so much fun to have around, and brought us a LOT of attention wherever we went with her :)  On Sunday, we all drove down to Holden Beach to visit Eric’s mom and brother and to spend the day on the beach.  It was a fun little family reunion, as Jason hadn’t seen Tammie since our wedding, and Tammie hadn’t yet met Becca or Cloey :)  Tammie made us an AMAZING shrimp alfredo over linguini dinner with a tossed salad and garlic bread, and her home made iced tea.  We had such a relaxing enjoyable day together… this is us being silly right before we left to head out to wilmington:

Then, we said goodbye to Tammie, and headed back to Raleigh, but being sure to stop at Wilmington first to introduce Jason and Becca to one of our favorite places here in NC and also so they could taste some Kilwin’s ice cream!!

It was such a refreshing weekend to be able to be around my family.  Last week was really a difficult week to go through.  I don’t want to get into all the details here, but just to put it out there, Eric and I resigned from our position as worship leaders at GraceWay Church, and will no longer be a part of that church community.  We were very hurt by some things that happened there, and we felt very mis-understood, but we know that all things happen for a reason, and that God has not forgotten us here.  We know that He still has an amazing plan for our lives, and we can’t wait to discover just what that next step is for us.  But I have already seen little “sweet things” of encouragement that God has placed in our path just at the time we needed it.  A visit from Jason and Becca… a beautiful relaxing day at the beach, unconditional love from a puppy :) … meeting up with old friends who offered their home to us for a delicious meal and encouraging words… kind words from our friends who love us.

Thank you God for a wonderful weekend of refreshment and encouragement!  You are so good to us.  Thank you that I got to meet my little Cloey June! “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”  –James 1:17, ESV
